What happened to Mounjaro prices?

The September 2025 price rise

When Mounjaro launched in the UK for weight management, Eli Lilly priced it below European market rates. The 15mg pen retailed for around £122 to £130 and the 2.5mg starter pen for around £92.

On 1 September 2025, Eli Lilly increased UK wholesale prices by up to 170% to align with European markets. The 2.5mg starter dose rose from approximately £92 to around £133 at wholesale, with retail prices following.

The 2026 market reaction

Wegovy sales surged as patients either switched or chose Wegovy over the now-pricier Mounjaro. Providers competed aggressively on starter doses.

By April 2026, independent price tracking found a 4% decrease in starting prices across three major providers, suggesting competitive discounting is beginning to offset some of the increase.

A separate April 2026 product update also redesigned the Mounjaro KwikPen to contain less excess medication, reducing the leftover liquid that some patients previously called the “golden dose” or “fifth dose”.
